We are finally at this point!
After looking back at our year, mainly our growth and where we plan to take our company, the time has finally come that we did our rebrand.
When we first started our company it was because we wanted to try our hands at candles. Stephen informed me that he started this up back in his hometown, and wanted to continue it here. Since I was jumping into this with no knowledge or anything, I decided to sneak out one day while he was working and go to a candle supplier store and learn what I can. Needless to say after that visit (And many many dollars spent) we had our kit and supplies ready to go. That night at the beginning of March we made our first candle! A couple days later from there, we made a dozen, then it lead to 3 dozen later. When we spoke about continuing this we decided it would be best to name the company "Avery Candles" as it was Stephens last name and had a good ring to it. We Applied to our first market for April, and launched our FB page and that was the humbled beginning full of hope.
New West Farmers Market was our very market, and the one few people who decided to give us a chance. We say "few" because were considered too late to apply for spring and summer markets, especially in March when it's most booked up already. Regardless, New West gave us our chance and we took it! We set up a very bare minimum table and we had our fingerss crossed in hopes for atleast one sale. At the end of the day, we went to the market with 36 candles, and we came home with 3. We were over whelmed with the response and support from everyone, and we felt even more amazing that people appreciated what we put out to them regarding our candles. We were full of panic, anxiety, fear. We didn't want to let anyone down, but more so ourselves. We knew from that point that this was something we wanted to pursue!
After a couple markets of just selling candles, we came to the conclusion to open outwards and try something new. Stephen took on the task of wanting to try Bath Bombs, while I decided to take the plunge into Soaps. Needless to say our first batches were not something we were too fond of (In fact I think we still have our first ever bath bomb) but we had our next hurdle to go over in order to spice up our new branded company. From March until now, we have mastered Bath Bombs, Soaps, Lip Balms, and now added to that list, Body Lotion, Sugar Scrubs, and Body Butters!
As our list keep growing with new products day in and day out, we realize we can longer be called a candle company. We sat down and began thinking what path we want to go with. It wasn't until we were watching a greek mythology special when we realized our new route. During the talks of the lesser Deities, the name Hestia came up. Goddess of Hearth and Home. It was her duty to keep the flames burning on Mount Olympus, as well as the flames to stay warm in the homes of everyone below. It was a sign of welcoming and comfort, and as a company that is what we went to strive to be! Welcoming, and comforting.
So now going into our 7th month as a business, we decided to rebrand our company as Hearth and Home, Bath and Body Care. We are still the same company on the inside, just now suited a with a name that fits! We are beyond excited for our future and to share it with you all!
